Here are our five favourite tracks on our playlist this week – in no particular order:
1. Emtee – Five 0
My favourite part in the song is when Emtee goes “Uvukile umalambane…” which basically means ‘the underdog has risen or it’s the rise of the underdog‘ somewhere along those lines. It’s such a dope jam, actually Emtee’s album, Avery has a lot of great gems. It’s too lit.
2. Sampha – Indecision
This is one of my favourite songs from Sampha‘s Dual EP. The EP was released back in 2013 and I immediately feel in love with this song. Sampha is a British electronic music singer, songwriter and producer from Morden, South London, United Kingdom.
3. James Blake – I Need A Forest Fire
This one is from ‘The Colour In Anything‘, which is the third studio album by the singer-songwriter and producer. The album was released on 6 May 2016 as the follow-up to his Mercury Prize-winning 2013 album Overgrown (which I also love).
4. Jorja Smith – Where Did I Go?
Jorja was recently on the Pigeons and Planes (a New York based music site which I love too dearly) article about the ‘Best New Artists To Watch in 2016’ – that’s how I first came across her music. She only has three songs out at the moment and this one, Where Did I Go, is my fave of all three.
5. Tom Misch – Watch Me Dance
This boy finally decided to go solo and release his first EP titled Reverie, through his own label called Beyond The Groove. This one here is my favoutire song from the EP – it’s got those smooth, jazzy soul vibes that I like and I was actually quiet impressed when I heard on one of our local radio stations.
