After bursting onto the local music scene towards the end of 2016, with their energetic single Dlala, future electronic music duo Stiff Pap are gearing up to make a serious name for themselves with the release of their debut 5-track EP, “Based on a Qho story”.
Comprising of rapper AyemaProbllem and Afro future electronica producer Jakinda, the Cape Town based pair fuse elements of kwaito, house, hip hop and gqom to create their unique futuristic sound. The internet release of Dlala caught the attention of Red Bull who invited the pair to record their EP at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town. Stemming from The Red Bull Music Academy’s desire to unearth music potential, the studios provide a platform to explore and grow local talent within the vibrant South African music scene.
Stiff Pap’s Dlala will feature as the official anthem introducing the Red Bull Culture Clash 2017 and the single will be highlighted in various ways throughout the campaign. Watch the exciting Red Bull Culture Clash 2017 trailer, featuring Dlala below:
Red Bull Culture Clash is an innovative live music experience happening in September in Johannesburg. The event takes place over four stages, with four crews battling it out over a series of rounds to claim the winner’s title. The four crews each represent a different genre of popular music and are fronted by local heavyweights AKA (hip hop), DJ Tira (house), Patoranking (afro-beats) and Admiral & Jahseed (Reggae).
