The Johannesburg Pride Parade and Festival Celebrates 30 Years of Advocacy, Activism and Change

On September 28th, 2019, The Johannesburg Pride successfully launched its unified community platform Pride of Africa, where the official details of the Pride Parade & Festival were announced. A series of supporting events have since followed in celebration of Pride Month including the Pride of Africa Fashion show, Lifestyle Conference, Brunch session and the Awards Gala Dinner, prior to the much-anticipated main event taking place this Saturday, 26 October 2019.

On the evening of October 19th, Pride of Africa held an Awards Gala Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg. The LGBTQ+ community has seen dozens of unsung heroes who dedicate their time, effort and money to empower and uplift the lives of every LGBTQ+ME person on the continent. The Pride of Africa Awards celebrated these heroes and recognised the phenomenal work they have done to uplift the LGBTQ+ME community.

Pride of Africa is pleased to announce the several diversity conscious, global entities who have assisted and supported The Johannesburg Pride Parade and Festival in ever-increasing numbers. These include Bacardi, Vodacom, Accenture, EY, Google and Baker Mackenzie, while VISA has come on board as an exclusive payments partner. Cosmopolitan South Africa and Transafrica Radio have also been on board as the official Pride of Africa media partners. Kaye Ally closes off by stating that “the list would not be complete without mentioning our fabulous brand and communication sponsor Joe Public United, without whom our 30th year would not be as colourful.”
