The South African Polo Association together with Nedbank have confirmed the joint commitment to postpone the Nedbank International Polo 2020 as the country faces uncertain times for the sporting and social calendar in the last quarter of this year.
The Nedbank International Polo, together with other valued sponsors and partners, look forward to welcoming attendees as well as the International rival team to the shores of South Africa as the country prepares to celebrate in the spring of 2021.
“Given the unprecedented situation that we find ourselves in as a country, this decision, though unfortunate, is the correct one and in keeping with our approach at Nedbank throughout Covid-19 to act with responsibility and compassion. We endorse the safety-first approach until it is appropriate for a return to what is termed the new normal with safety protocols paramount,” said Ciko Thomas, Group Managing Executive for Retail and Business Banking at Nedbank.
Thomas said Covid-19 and its effects on the country – and the world – has forced a change in focus and in the way, business is run, naturally, this has a profound effect on the sporting and social calendar.
Although the Nedbank International Polo is postponed for this year, polo fans are encouraged to follow the SAPA Facebook page and Website for updates on club tournaments and fixtures planning to open later this year.
