Eric Macheru is a South African actor most famous for acting as Leeto Maputla the son of Meikie Maputla (Harriet Manamela) and John Maputla (Africa Tsoai) and the older brother of Thabo Maputla (Cornet Mamabolo) and husband to Mogadi Matloga and a successful lawyer in the soap, Skeem Saam. We had a conversation with the actor, to find out more about his latest partnership with Samson and more about his style.

IceKream: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are in your career today?

Eric: I’m Eric Macheru…actor, model and event MC. Currently acting on Skeem Saam and ambassador for clothing brand Samson africa. 

IceKream: How did you become the brand ambassador for Samson? Is this something that you’ve always wanted for yourself/brand?

Eric: It’s definitely something I’ve always wanted to do for myself and to help grow my brand as well, so it was a no-brainer when Samson Africa called. 

IceKream: What was your first impression of the brand Samson?

Eric: I’ve always known the Samson brand when growing up, its a brand that is synonymous with the hood and street culture. 

IceKream: Have you always been interested in fashion? And how would you describe your style? 

Eric: I think everybody sees themselves as some type of fashion guru and style icon..lol. my style is very simple, I always go for comfortable and easy looks. Jeans, tees and some dope sneakers. 

IceKream: What are your favourite Samson pieces?

Eric: The winter ranges are my favorites, the dungaree, the bucket hats too. Lol

IceKream: What’s next? What is the ultimate goal for Eric Macheru?

Eric: The ultimate goal is try not be working in 10/15 years time. I just want to travel and help people around the world.

Scoop 1: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world — who would it be and where would you take them?

Eric: A double date with the Beckhams at some island. 

Scoop 2: Who are your creative influences / inspirations?  

Eric: Damn…there’s a lot, lol..I take alot from nature. 

Scoop 3: What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Eric: anything Bob Marley

Eric: : I’d definitely do all 3….hahaha

Eric:  A professional football player or creative director.
