South African actress, presenter and voice artist has become a recognisable talent on local television and film screens. Most recently seen in SABC 1’s ’Amazing Grace’ and Showmax Original Film, ‘RAGE,’ the actress has established an undeniable path to being a household name. She plays – on ‘Diamond City’ currently available on streaming giant, Netflix.
Shalima holds leading and supporting credits on shows like Isithembiso (Mzansi Magic), Nkululeko (Mzansi Magic), and Keeping Score (SABC 2) and the films ‘Uzobuya’ and ‘Thulani noThuli’.
Her theatre resumé includes roles in productions like The Crucible, Titus Andronicus, A Raisin in the Sun, Kill Me Please, Wounds to the Face and Stranger Hear Myself.
Fresh off of the success of Showmax original movie, RAGE, Shalima Mkongi recently made a return to television screens on SABC 1’s limited series, Amazing Grace this past December. With titles like Nkuleleko, Isithembiso, Keeping Score and Uzobuya on her resumé, Mkongi is no stranger to the local small screen.
With Netflix’s acquisition of Diamond City, the actress gets introduced to global audiences in the supporting role of Soso.
Talking about her most recent role as Grace on Amazing Grace, the actress said, “This project has taught me to never judge people’s stories, we have no idea what they do to survive.”
