Style Diary: Foyin OG from The DearSolo Blog

Hi! My name is Foyin Og and I’m a 20 year old Business Science: Marketing student at UCT by day, a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger by night and an overall liker of things. I run The DearSolo Blog and use it as a portal for (predominantly) young women who want to look and be their best but on a budget. I post about style advice and outfit inspo, music that I’m listening to, beauty reviews and tutorials, pop culture ramblings with the occasional op-ed in the mix. My style is usually more simple, but I’m learning to add bold statement pieces and pops of colour to add more life to my wardrobe.

My style for a typical week would look something like this:

Monday

Monday’s lately are mostly admin-related days. I have tutorial hand-ins and lectures, so I sometimes have to rely on my staple uniform of all-black to make sure I still look good even if I didn’t have the time for it.

Monday

You really can’t go wrong with a pair of good fitting black jeans (thank you, Jonis from Topshop!), a turtleneck and some boots.

Tuesday

Lately, I’ve become quite the sneaker fan. I love the versatility and the comfort of sneakers because they fit my student lifestyle and the sports-luxe aesthetic, which is always a fun trend to try.

As you can see, my closet revolves quite a lot around the colour black because it very seldom goes wrong! Monochrome is a trend that I am always here for, even when it involves a pair of sometimes pesky white jeans.

Wednesday

I am a fan of the trends, and a major trend that I’m loving is all about fur. Until I get myself a massive fur coat and unleash my inner Rihanna attitude, I wear this black-and-white fur waist coat because it also gives me that extra ego boost that I need.

Wednesday

It’s an awesome statement piece because it can take any outfit up a notch without you feeling completely ridiculous. From events to date night to lectures – you won’t always feel too out of place wearing it.

Thursday

Midi skirts were a trend that I usually strayed from because they were always a little awkward for my height and I always thought I needed to wear them with heels! And even though they look amazing with heels, during the week, I usually am more flat-footed.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t rock a midi-skirt – this look works well even with sneakers because it makes the look a bit more edgy. I also am a fan of denim shirts – and here’s a free tip: shop in the men’s section! That’s where I got my denim top and the long black top from Tuesday’s look too.
Friday
Fridays are my short days at school and I like to celebrate them by doing something called ‘Catfish Fridays’! That’s where no matter what I’m doing that day, I beat my face to the gods just to make up for the rest of the week where I looked as stressed as I felt.
Friday
It’s also usually the day where I go out for groove, and lately I’ve found my thigh high boots to be a saviour because they’re comfortable enough to wear for a long night of dancing but they look fancy enough to be suited to most locations.
