To end of the Women’s Month music selection this week – I have chosen some of the great musical gems to ever grace out ears , eyes and souls. This week’s playlist also comes after a hectic weekend of the Lories, so I hope these songs will soothe those broken bones from all the hectic partying in Durban and bring you joy and a stress-free week ahead. See below, this week’s playlist in no particular order:
1. Erykah Badu – Window Seat
Like I said in the beginning of this post, we’re closing off this Women’s Month inspired playlist with the best-musical-gems in the game. In the video we see Erykah Badu walking the streets of Dealey Plaza in Dallas, slowly stripping to the nude, before being shot by an unseen assassin. Which is President Kennedy was shot. She took to Twitter to explain that She expected people to ride with her. “Being honest CAN get you assassinated. Your character, spirit, and sometimes physically. Interesting. What drives this? Keep dialoging.”
2. Whitney Houston – I’m Every Woman
The famous soundtrack from her movie, The Bodyguard… I love that movie. Need to check in my movie folders and watch it again soon.
3. Busi Mhlongo – Urban Zulu
One of my favourite albums of all time. Mam-Busi will forever have a special place in my heart and soul. I love her.
4. Nina Simone – Ne Me Quitte Pas
I don’t even know what the lyrics mean but this song speaks to my soul. And, it’s so soothing. If like me, you just came back from Lories, this song is all that you need in your playlist this week and take it easy.
5. Beyonce – I’d Rather Go Bling (Etta James cover)
Stellar performance from the Queen!
