I bumped my car on Sunday, and the first thing my mom said when I (tried to cover it up by lying about how the car got bumped #StoryForAnotherDay) told her about it, was that ‘be thankful you’re okay’. Be thankful. Those words stuck out and they’ve been lingering in my head ever since. How often do you take the time to thank the people around you? Be it a friend who helped you out with a last minute work-thing, be it bae for supporting all of your decisions (even the bad ones), be it a colleague who held a spot for you in an awkward client meeting / workshop, be it uMageza for helping you with pack your groceries in the boot?
My track list this week was inspired by all of those moments and I would like to thank each an everyone of you for your continued support in our blog, and for always taking the time to click-through whenever we bombard you on other social media channels with links shared from the blog. We really, truly appreciate it.
1. Daughter – Lifeform
This one goes out to a special somebody {LOL} thanks for being so kind, understanding, caring and always encouraging me to look at the positive side. You are amazing. You make my life to form (if there is such a thing), what I mean is, your positive energy is truly appreciated and it makes want to be a good person. Not just with you, but everyone I interact with.
2. Mandoza – iLife
RIP Mandoza and thank you for sharing your gift and the amazing music. You will be missed dearly.
3. Busi Mhlongo ft Jabu Khanyile – Abazali bami
Not quite sure about the title of this song, but just press play and enjoy. This one goes out to the most under-appreciated people in our lives, our parents. Cherish them, love them, respect them until the end of time. That’s the gist of this song.
4. Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love
This one goes out to the Universe and all the forces and energies that make us all so amazingly unique and special in our own little ways.
5. Kanye West – Runaway
We all know how hard it is to get over a break up, we seek advise from friends, family, colleagues and everyone will tell you to ‘just let them go’ and they make that seem like the easiest task in the world. The latest advice I got about letting go of past relationships was that, you need to embrace the pain and move on. This made a lot of sense and it kinda worked (well for now). But here’s a little thank toast (song) to all those ex-muhfucken-douchebags who didn’t deserve us, our time and energy.
