Bigstar Johnson’s “Caesar” Album is Mature, Honest and Authentic

Multifaceted rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, Bigstar Johnson, releases his sophomore album today titled “Caesar”, setting the tone for what we can expect from his brand going forward. Admittedly only taking 3 days to record 80% of the album, however, taking a year and a half to record the rest; the completion of “Caesar” was birthed through an awakening and anybody who knows what that’s like knows that it’s never comfortable. Bigstar Johnson alludes to the album taking the most out of him but also bringing the best out of him. Prayer, meaningful conversations, meditation, and the right community got him through.

Caesar is about the relationship I have with my father, also understanding him now that I’ve become a father and resolving a lot of trauma through music and finding internal healing,” shares Bigstar Johnson. He adds: “From the album you can expect mature, honest, authentic hip hop. I think hip hop has become overly aspirational and the truth is undervalued. Hip hop has always been about expressing oneself so I believe my contribution is the story of the 32-year-old black rapper from Johannesburg Kempton Park 1632 East Rand.”

The 13-track album is a candid musical expression of self and crosses over into every style of music that Bigstar Johnson likes from deep house to African jazz, to soul, amapiano and even gospel. So listeners have a lot to eat up. The 13-track album is a candid musical expression of self and crosses over into every style of music that Bigstar Johnson likes from deep house to African jazz, to soul, amapiano and even gospel.
