Fans of Cape Town-hailing DJ, Cairo CPT, are in for yet another treat as his latest album, World of Sgubhu dropped on Sunday, 27 August. The 12-track collection delivers heavy party bangers and Ggospel, which is an upbeat infusion of traditional Gospel music and Gqom that the musician is known and loved for.

“There is no Cairo CPT without Gqospel,” he says. “I am looking forward to South Africa’s response to this album because while I remained true to my signature sound that my fans love, I also had fun exploring and working with other talented artists.”  

Cairo CPT has earned a reputation as a heavyweight in the Gqom/Sgubhu music scene, since the release of his debut album, ‘Cheers to Good Music’ in 2021.  Now, with three albums, two EPs and a myriad of singles, he is determined to imprint his name on the hearts of music lovers locally and abroad.

He mixes the traditional Gqom menacing sounds with emotive tones and relatable keys such as amagwijo, gospel and the 90s groove. This fusion gives his music an authentic feel that has become unmistakably his signature.

World of Sgubhu is now available for streaming and downloading on all major digital platforms.  Cairo CPT will be embarking on a national tour to share the music with his fans on live stages. Tour dates to be announced via his social media.
