In honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy of giving, 947 Drive with Thando once again turned up the warmth with their second annual “Fill The Studio” winter donation drive – and this year’s response was nothing short of extraordinary.

Throughout Mandela Week, 947 broadcast live from their Montecasino studios, inviting listeners to be part of the mission to bring warmth to those in need. The goal was simple yet powerful: to fill the studio with donations that could make a real difference in the lives of South Africans facing the bitter cold.

Thanks to the incredible support of listeners, community members, and local organisations, 947 Drive with Thando successfully collected over 5,000 blankets. The initiative not only filled the studio – it filled hearts, homes, and lives.

All donated items were handed over to The Angel Network, a trusted non-profit organisation that ensures these resources reach the most deserving homes across the country. “This is our second year running ‘Fill The Studio’ for Mandela Day, and once again, we were blown away by the love and generosity of our listeners,” said Thando Thabethe, host of 947 Drive with Thando. “It’s a true reflection of Madiba’s spirit – giving with purpose and heart.”
