“Things We Love” Sets the Stage for South Africa’s Next Era of Live Performance

South Africa is entering a new era of live performance, and Things We Love is leading the charge. Conceptualised by acclaimed singer-songwriter Wandile Mbambeni, this brand-new live music series is more than just a stage. It’s a platform. A movement. A carefully curated space that celebrates homegrown artistry in its truest, most heartfelt form.

“Things We Love” is where storytelling meets sound, where artists connect with audiences beyond the music, and where culture, creativity, and community come alive.

Built to uplift and spotlight South African talent, Things We Love is designed to add long-term value to artists’ careers and offer them a high-impact, beautifully staged space to grow, perform, and be seen.

From the set design to the lighting, sound, and atmosphere, every detail is crafted to support authentic, world-class performances. “If you deliver an unforgettable show and we see you rising, we’ll put you on our stage,” says Mbambeni.

THE LAUNCH EVENT
The series officially kicks off on Friday, 08 August 2025, at the creative live venue Sognage in Johannesburg, and the launch lineup sets the tone for everything Things We Love stands for:

  • Manana – Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and one of South Africa’s most beloved musical voices. Manana is known for his rich vocals, poetic lyricism, and deeply emotional delivery. His collaborations with Ami Faku, Sun-El Musician, and Sjava have cemented his place as a leader in the next wave of African soul.
  • Wandile Mbambeni – The visionary behind Things We Love, Wandile is a celebrated artist in his own right. With his unique country-soul sound, vulnerability on stage, and consistent evolution as a live performer, his set will serve as both a performance and a mission statement.
  • Zādok – A dynamic vocalist, producer, and music director whose fingerprints are on some of SA’s biggest records. He played a central creative role in the making of AKA’s Mass Country album and continues to shape the sound of the culture with his genre-blending energy.
  • Yolophonik – One of SA’s most exciting DJs and producers, Yolophonik will close the night with a signature set full of mood, rhythm, and deep musical moments. Expect genre-defying curation that brings everything together.

Also expect immersive lighting, top-tier production, craft drinks, and a crowd that’s there for music that moves you.
