The much-loved Sunset Music Series is officially back for 2026, once again transforming the breathtaking Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden into Johannesburg’s ultimate outdoor live music destination. Following a spectacular season launch with Jeremy Loops on Sunday, 10 May, the Sunset Music Series now gears up for an exciting run of upcoming concerts featuring some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists. Fans can look forward to the soaring vocals of Lloyiso on Sunday, 31 May, followed by an uplifting double bill from Matthew Mole and Will Linley on Sunday, 14 June, and then Afrikaans rock heavyweights Spoegwolf and Francois van Coke on Sunday, 28 June.
With both an Autumn and Spring edition planned for 2026, music lovers can expect even more major artist announcements in the months ahead, making the Sunset Music Series one of the country’s premier lifestyle concert experiences once again.
Set against one of Joburg’s most scenic natural backdrops, the Sunset Music Series offers the perfect fusion of music, nature, and laid-back social energy. Audiences can expect unforgettable afternoons filled with sing-along moments, vibrant performances, golden-hour sunsets, and relaxed picnic-style enjoyment – creating the ideal outing for families, friends, couples, and live music fans alike.

Damon Forbes from BreakOut Events shares his excitement for the 2026 season, saying: “There’s something truly special about experiencing live music outdoors with friends surrounded by nature, especially in a setting as iconic as the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden. This year we have two seasons – an Autumn and Spring series – and for the Autumn series we’ve curated a set of shows featuring some of South Africa’s top artists. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back for another unforgettable Sunset Music Series.”
Each event runs from 13:00 to 17:00, with gates opening at 13:00. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and food, while a variety of bars and refreshments will be available on-site (please note: no own drinks permitted). Camp chairs and picnic blankets are welcome, allowing concertgoers to settle in comfortably and soak up the atmosphere.
