Zoe Modiga Shares How to Use Music to Make a Positive Impact

Heritage Careers Expo Announces Zoe Modiga to Teach Music for Social
Change. Award-winning musician shares how to use music to make a positive impact Cape Town, 28 June 2022. Heritage Careers Expo, announced today that award-winning musician Zoe Modiga will have a masterclass on how to leverage music to effect social change. The Heritage Careers Expo is an initiative of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela.

Zoe will teach learners from five schools in Athlone and surrounding areas on how music can be used to tell stories and foster social change. She will provide an honest discussion around the music industry, education, culture, and heritage. The schools include Grade 9-12 learners from Alexander Sintin High, Bonteheuwel High, Bridgetown High, Langa High and Garlendale High and among the students are special schools for differently abled students.

“It is critical that students are allowed to choose careers that they are
passionate about rather than careers that are dictated by their parents”
, says Zoe Modiga. Making decisions about the future is a daunting task. Students who want to pursue careers in the creative arts usually do so after completing science or business degrees that they are not really interested in. “Our facility is well positioned and accessible for young people seeking knowledge about different careers.” states FuturFit, an Athlone based organisation that specialises in call centre training and business process optimisation. “We have partnered with a few Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) to offer continuous career guidance and awareness to learners at our premises”, added Ismail Kaskar, founder of FuturFit.
