We’re still on that Women’s Month inspired song selection tip – until the end of August (even though I feel it should be women’s month all day everyday, if you ask me). Please do enjoy this week’s selection from some of the greatest women, repping all ladies across the world, getting their own, and not letting anything or anyone stand in their way.
Here goes my women’s month inspired tracks for this week in no particular order:
1. Zamajobe – Nokthula
This is one of my favourite jazz / soul African tracks of all time. Someone please tell Zamajobe to come out of hiding and bless us with more gems like this one… again.
2. Lianne La Havas – Unstoppable
This one was released of Lianne’s second studio album titled “Blood”, which was dropped early 2015. The song was released as the album’s official lead single, and “Unstoppable” is a Jazz song that features strings, piano, and an subtle electric guitar, with lyrics that speak about the heights of love.
3. Rihanna – BBHMM
This was every guy and girls’ anthem last year when it dropped, and the video on the other hand is one piece of art! I think I love the video more than I do the song.
4. Nadia Nakai – Money Back
I F#$%@N love Nadia Nakai…. seriously, I can’t wait to watch her perform live, her thick ass, great bod, and killer bars will have you questioning your sexuality and your life!
5. Dej Loaf – Try Me
This was the debut single by Dej Loaf, released on October 15, 2014.When I first heard the song I thought it was one of those new up and coming American Hip Hop boys, then I saw the video and thought, ‘this boy is hella cute‘. Then I went and stalked them on Instagram, only to find out it’s a chick, a badass one might I add. I’ve been in love with her ever since.
