Three weeks into 2017! I hope you’re still on track with all your goals and missions for the year, and that you’re still feeling positive about… life in general. I hope you’ll enjoy this week’s selection – which features some my personal favourite songs, which I’ve been / can’t stop listening to for that past couple of days or so.
1. Childish Gambino – Redbone
Guys, this whole album ‘Awaken My Love’ will change your life! Here, Gambino was performing live on Jimmy Fallon’s show and he really did the damn thing. I’m also looking forward to some visuals – I’m pretty damn sure it’s going to be some high-quality-futuristic-artistic- shit!
2. AKA – The World Is Yours
The SupaMega dropped this one for the first time with a LIT performance on the Idols SA season finale last year. The song is a celebration of the successful career AKA has as an artist, musician and brand, dropping lines such as “…who went plat without a vernac record…”, he recognises himself as the champion that he is and inspires others to also dream big and aim high.
3. Okmalumkoolkat – Mlazi Milano
This is my other super-zuper favourite album! Mlazi Milano, the album, features some of my faves; Mashayabhuqe KaMamba, uSanele, Petite Noir, Riky Rick, AKA, Amadando, Spoek Mathambo and The Brother Moves On. It’s fire!
4. Chance The Rapper feat Kanye West and Chicago Children’s Choir – All We Got
This is my number one fave track on Chance’s Coloring Book album. The gospel vibes, Kanye and the beat – eargasms all day!
5. Yung Swiss – The High
We had the pleasure of interviewing Swiss last year, and he spoke about the inspiration behind his music, the new album (Bottom Baby) and how it all came about. Peep it over HERE and enjoy his new music video below.
